CURRENTLY WATCHING: FLOWER BOY NEXT DOOR
                                        QUEEN OF AMBITION

Though i don’t have much time to watch dramas and when i do i am hella slow, they are the reason why i came to know South Korea in the first place.
In case you’re looking for suggestions (despite the dramas i watched are all popular and classics) or you just wanna know more about me - since i’m not only k-pop - you can:

  • check this site for an overall idea about my taste (they’re in random order so focus on the grade, not the ranking).

K-DRAMAS

  1. SCHOOL 2013 - Yes! It’s taken me three years and a couple of months but i finally found a drama so amazing that let me allow my first and most favorite shows to climb down.
Not counting the extreme relevance of this story, that for the first time touched something deep inside of me, something no other story’s ever approached so fiercely, something i’m still struggling to leave behind myself completely, this drama is technically perfect. Brilliant acting, smart screenplay (the story’s not centered on one plot only, but it concludes one to move on to other characters, being careful not to forget completely about the previous sub-plots). Extremely topical, it touches all the delicate issues teenagers these days have to face, but maintaining enough lightness of mood to avoid giving in to excessive melodrama.
Unforgettable multiple bromance. Best school drama ever.
  2. COFFEE PRINCE - It’s my first k-drama. I can’t bring myself to tell you how much i actually love it. I’ve heard people saying this is still the best drama ever. So i guess it’s not only because it was my first one, if it’s still on top of my list. I remember how i was struck by the emotions it gave me.
  3. BOYS OVER FLOWERS - My bff suggested this after seeing how i couldn’t get over Coffee Prince. I wouldn’t be a TripleS if she didn’t have that idea. Or maybe i would be, but it would take me longer to get there. I miss the people from Coffee Prince, but i miss BOF world. And it was touching and upsetting and satisfying at a fair extent.
  4. DREAM HIGH 2 - I’m terribly sorry about all the amazing unforgettable dramas that come later in this list, but the range of feelings DH2 gave me is incomparable. It messes with your emotions, heart and brain. It makes you fall in love even with the characters you hate the most. Great story and character development. Not your typical happy ending. Perfect closures. No regrets. Undying love for the whole cast.
  5. 49 DAYS - I can’t believe something could beat Secret Garden in so little time. But this drama is surprising. Lovely. And it teaches you. You become part of it. You become friends with the characters and since it’s all about death (though in a heart-warming way, don’t worry) you end up mourning like everything really happened to you.
  6. REPLY 1997 - Fun, normal, relevant, relatable, nostalgic. A journey back in time for the characters and yourself, a faithful portrait of fandoms, an unpretentious story of growth, friendship, love, family and all the personal fights that build our life and the little daily things everyone meets along their way.
  7. SECRET GARDEN - It took me one year to find another drama as good as the first two. It was incredibly hilarious and i liked how in the end it was all about destiny. It may not make much sense at first, but if you give it a chance you won’t regret it. I promise. And if you can, then…i’m sorry. You must be aliens.
  8. CITY HUNTER - I’m placing this after Coffee Prince and BOF because your first dramas just have something unbeatable. And after 49 Days and Secret Garden merely because these gave me something to relate to. But City Hunter can easily be labeled as the most perfect drama i’ve ever watched. A constant growth of emotions, it never loses suspence, a terrific cast and protagonist, an intricate involving plot. It leaves you breathless. Not exaggerating.
  9. ROOFTOP PRINCE - For once a drama that doesn’t end two episodes too early or doesn’t end at all. Extremely funny (especially the first half), geniusly intricated plot that makes you ignore even the lame twists. Some cast members could have done better, but standing ovation to Yoochun’s interpretation of two such different characters.
  10. SHUT UP FLOWER BOY BAND - Though it’s in 6th position it’s one of the best dramas ever imo. And the reason why it’s so low in the rankings is that the plotline is not particularly breathtaking. Except the very beginning and the freaking 13th episode and some asyfhgsdgfkhasdfha and table flipping in the middle. But for example, City Hunter was the king of cliffhangers so i didn’t feel like leaving it under FBB. Nevertheless the way the bonds are portrayed, the balance between romance and friendship and even the normality of it all makes it flawless. Not even the ending ruins it. Except for the fact you miss these kids even before the final line is pronounced.
  11. DREAM HIGH - Not a romance, for once. Don’t watch it with this expectation ‘cause this is a high school drama. There is the love triangle in the background, but it’s just a background. Yet, it taught me a lot.
  12. BAD GUY - I don’t know how South Korea didn’t cancel this show, when they ban MVs because the singer isn’t wearing her seatbelt. It was disappointing at the very end. I still consider the ending the most pointless part of screenplay after Into the Wild. Though of course Into the Wild is a true story. But the whole drama is the most hair-pulling mindblowing ever. And it’s sexy. I think we can say it’s sexy.
  13. LIE TO ME - A weird drama. I watched it mainly for Yoon Eun Hye and it didn’t catch me at first. Then the plot started being more and more familiar, showing events i’ve personally been through. So it was a love-hate feeling because i got unwillingly involved into the storyline. Later on i started loving the drama on its own. But the ending was pretty pointless imo. Compared to the emotions given in the previous episodes, the ending didn’t keep up.
  14. PLAYFUL KISS - I’m sorry that this drama is in such a low position compared to how much i really really really loved it and miss it. I wouldn’t have watched it if it wasn’t for Hyun Joong, i admit it. But i discovered how Jung So min is a fair versatile actress. She was in Bad Guy, too. But her two roles were so different and yet so well portrayed that i was happily satisfied and impressed. And i won’t mention all the things i loved about PK, but i must say: LOCK DUDE!!!! ;_;
  15. CINDERELLA’S SISTER - I hated the ending. If i had to suggest this i’d say ‘Don’t bother watching after the 11th episode’. Some characters were put there…why? I still don’t get it. They didn’t develop. They didn’t help. They came and left and i still don’t know if and what i learned from them. But i suppose if i didn’t expect certain things and actually realised how things were supposed to work from the start, i would keep loving it just as much as when i started it. You’ll get crazy with all that screaming, but you will sigh in relief and you will shed tears. Especially about the whole step-sisters relationship. Yeah, if i have to give you a reason to watch it, it’s this.
  16. FLOWER BOY RAMYUN SHOP
  17. YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL
  18. PERSONAL TASTE
  19. FULL HOUSE - These four should be on the same level. Both because they’re the same kind of drama and because i loved them the same way and i got the same emotions from them. Again, they’re in a lower position than expected and i admit i didn’t feel involved in the plot as much as the previous ones. But i would still suggest them to anyone and i do feel like going back and watch random cuts. Or i find myself thinking about random scenes when i’m bored. They’re sweet, they’re lovely, they’re nice, they’re funny. They’re carefree. They’re the perfect antidote to hopelessness and bad days.
  20. TO THE BEAUTIFUL YOU - I’m deeply sorry to say it was a big disappointment. So far from the original j-drama, all the characters were off, the acting almost mia and the story sort of stretched, although with a couple of smart adds. But even if i try not to compare, the only thing i can save are Lee Hyun Woo and the hilarity (which often comes with the previous point and anyway it’s still not as demential as Hana Kimi). SM: keep making music, please.
  21. LOVE RAIN - Great chemistry, slow development. It was hard to stay awake during the episodes. I swear.
  22. MARY STAYED OUT ALL NIGHT - So disappointed by this. The cast is amazing. Kim Jae Wook is one of my favorite korean actors; Jang Geun Suk and Moon Geun Young, i know them from other dramas. I loved their acting, if taken singularly. But the drama from a general point of view striked me at the beginning and made me grow fond of the characters, just to become lame and pointless and flat in the second half. I was told the screenplay was changed after low ratings during the first episodes. I wonder if i’d put this drama higher in my chart if they didn’t change it.
  23. WILL IT SNOW FOR CHRISTMAS? - I’m positive this is the fourth drama i watched and the first one i picked without following anyone’s suggestion. (Coffee Prince, BOF and You’re Beautiful all came to me from my bff’s previous and tested experience.) Well, i watched it because Young Saeng contributed to the soundtrack and i was just starting my TripleS journey so i was curious. I loved it, despite its ups and downs. It’s interesting with a few dull times. But again, the ending killed it. So it’s this low because it wasn’t completely involving even during the development. (Kim Soo Hyun is in it, though. And i can’t believe i love him so much now when i basically ignored him one year ago. So much time i wasted without knowing. ;_;)
  24. DREAM - Watched it EXCLUSIVELY for Kim Bum. There’s nothing good about this drama except him. It’s a sport drama but despite the rivalry between the main character and his antagonist may glue you to your couch at the beginning, it gets repetitive almost immediately. And you don’t even get attached to the bonds between characters, so i literally watched it until the end just for Kim Bum.

J-DRAMAS

  1. TUMBLING - Just let me tell you one thing: i bought the dvd. Because i know someday i’m gonna need them back. All of them. These boys. It was inspiring and touching. Not to mention if a plot has loyalty as strong point, it has my heart. We can’t be friends if you haven’t watched Tumbling. And if i lost my memory you should show me this drama again because i couldn’t live without knowing this.
  2. YAMATO NADESHIKO SHICHI HENGE - It begins on the quiet. And then you suddenly find yourself loving everything and everyone. I came to believe i prefer romance dramas where the main couple don’t like each other at first. In this particular case i loved that sort of hidden protection they give each other. And later i loved how the secondary roles wanted to help Sunako-chan, too. (Omg, Sunako-chan. I miss you! >.<)
  3. GHOST FRIENDS - Devastating. In one word, it was devastating. It was amazing. But the ending was devastating. I cried for two hours and i was depressed for two days. Positive side: it reawakened my love for Nissy and it turned it into an obsession.
  4. ROOKIES - I watched it in 2 days. I don’t think i need to say anything else. XD It was very similar to Tumbling. The hopeless brats, the inspiring teacher, a dream, efforts, obstacles. And though Tumbling came first and it’s like a neverending love that will never be replaced, Rookies is almost equally amazing.
  5. ASUKO MARCH - Every time i watch a j-drama it becomes one of my favorites. They’re all so amazing. So, what i loved about Asuko March? As usual, the group. Japanese school dramas are the best at portraying team work. And i loved Kaku Kento’s image, because it was so different from Nippori in Tumbling and yet so cute and amazing and awesome. In all honesty the ending kinda dies away, but i loved it too much from the very beginning.
  6. OURAN HIGH SCHOOL HOST CLUB - Completely demented. But evil, because just like the japanese drama you get attached to the group and you’d never want it to end. Plus, each episode has that lovely loyalty moment you just gotta love. And Hikaru is totally my alter-ego and i’ll love him forever for that and for his cuteness. Looking forward to the movie.
  7. IKEMEN DESU NE - You’re Beautiful remake. In case you don’t know. If you loved the korean version, you need it. If you don’t know the korean version, you need them both. They’re basically the same, but each one can give you different emotions and i promise it will make you feel light and it will make you cry buckets in the end (in a good way) and it will make you miss their whole world.
  8. MUSCLE GIRL - I loved Hong Ki in this drama. I knew he was a good actor but this was a splendid confirmation. It’s not completely a sport drama and not completely a romance, but it’s smooth and entertaining and touching. And the final episode just made me want to punch someone, but was also heart-warming. If you’re a Pri, you might want to give it a shot for Won Bin’s appearance.
  9. MY BOSS, MY HERO - My first asian drama EVER! Though i later realised it wasn’t the best one, it still has a special place in my heart because it was indeed amazing. And it’s one of those things i miss. Makky’s crazyness and the bond and hope he managed to drop into his class. And the simply heartbreaking ending. ;_; Omg, now i wanna watch it again.
  10. KIMI WA PETTO - I can’t wait for the korean movie, which is basically the only reason why i watched the japanese drama. But i loved it. Like i said, i like when the main couple needs to get to know each other and at some point they just become aware of how they can’t be without the other one anymore. This is exactly what this drama is about.
  11. HANA KIMI - I don’t wanna be repetitive, but: loyalty, sweetness, tons and tons of laughter, more laughter. I suppose these are the keywords in j-dramas. But i like it that way.
  12. HANA YORI DANGO - I think it’s because i watched BOF before. This is why i wasn’t very impressed, but some say the japanese version is more faithful to the manga. It may be true. But i judge the drama. And despite it was enjoyable, i think BOF gave me TOO MUCH for me to replace it. It’s merely a matter of heart.
  13. ONE POUND GOSPEL - It’s in last position but not because i didn’t love it. I actually did. It was a weird plot, but lovely. I watched it because i was in my Kame phase and he didn’t fail to crack me up, of course. But i also loved when shit got real and the whole atmosphere had to become more serious.
  14. DELICIOUS GAKUIN - Makes no effing sense. XDD Especially at the beginning. But this is not why it’s on the bottom of my list. It’s because i couldn’t find subs after the 6th episode so i have no idea how it ends or develops. Because other than that it was actually the most entertaining (as in crazily demented) of all the jdramas i’ve watched. Too bad…I loved it.

That’s it. This will get updated. I’ll let you know when. Though you can expect it, whenever you’ll notice i finished to watch another drama. \o/
